Alex Cooper's husband and business partner, Matt Kaplan, has reportedly received multiple complaints about his behavior at their company
According to an April 20 Bloomberg News report, Kaplan yelled at staff on the set of Unwell Winter Games, causing one crew member to break down in tears
Following the allegations, Cooper and Kaplan were reportedly not in attendance at a recent Unwell all-hands meeting
Alex Cooper's husband and business partner, Matt Kaplan, is reportedly being accused of berating staff members at their company.
On April 20, Bloomberg News released a bombshell report alleging that Kaplan — who runs the company Trending alongside Cooper — "frequently" yells at staff members, citing “people familiar with the company's operations.” (Trending, an umbrella company, houses Cooper's Unwell Network, which includes her hit podcast Call Her Daddy.)
According to the report, while the company was producing its YouTube-original series Unwell Winter Games earlier this year, Kaplan allegedly “berated” staff on set and threatened to prevent them from ever working in Hollywood again, causing one crew member to break down in tears. The report also claims that multiple crew members filed formal complaints and told company leadership that they would quit if Kaplan didn't improve his behavior.
The Bloomberg report also claims that Cooper has faced company turnover in the last two years, noting that at least 20 people on LinkedIn have said they left Unwell — which Cooper says employs about 100 people — in either 2025 or 2026.
According to a follow-up report from Bloomberg, Unwell held an all-hands meeting on April 21, though Cooper and Kaplan, who are co-chief executive officers, were allegedly not present.

During the meeting, Bloomberg reported, Unwell's Chief Marketing Officer T.J. Marchetti discussed plans to grow the business and acknowledged employee departures but maintained that Unwell's turnover rate is lower than that of other startups. He did not mention reported complaints about Kaplan's behavior, per Bloomberg.

Allegations of Kaplan's workplace behavior come amid an ongoing feud between Cooper and influencer Alix Earle, who formerly hosted a podcast with Unwell from 2023 to 2025.

After Earle's exit from Unwell, rumors started swirling of a rift between the two media personalities behind the scenes. In March 2025, Cooper claimed she didn't know why Earle was not able to podcast, writing in a TikTok that it had “nothing to do with Unwell.” When asked about leaving Unwell by The Wall Street Journal two months later, Earle alluded to potential beef, saying that, “behind the scenes,” it was “a little bit of a hot mess.”
But the feud spilled out into the open earlier this month when Cooper made a TikTok, calling out Earle by name and telling her to air out their beef and “stop hiding behind other people.” (A few days prior, Earle had reposted a video on TikTok of another content creator calling Cooper “so awful” and likening her to a “grim reaper.”)
