Big Brother alum Ashley Hollis is opening up about the final messages she shared with fellow castmate Mickey Lee just weeks before Lee’s sudden death.

In an Instagram Story shared Friday, December 26, Hollis revealed screenshots of a text exchange dated December 7, showing her attempt to reconcile after lingering tension between the two following their time on the show.

ā€œI wanted to reach out to you! I didn’t really get to see you this weekend plussss I feel like a lot of people [redacted],ā€ Hollis’ text read, per TMZ. She went on to explain why she avoided addressing things publicly, writing, ā€œI didn’t really wanna approach it in public with fans around and stuff! But I wanted to reach out because I honestly don’t like the way things have transpired between us and I did really care about you in the house.ā€

ā€œI don’t want beef [with you] and I don’t want the two black girls to be pit against each other,ā€ she continued. ā€œI don’t like that! So, I wanted to be the bigger person and reach out to squash the [bee emoji href="https://parade.com/living/emoji-meanings"].ā€

Hollis deleted the post but later addressed the situation on X, saying she shared the messages to push back against claims that she disliked Lee. ā€œI posted that because y’all continue to bash me saying I never liked mickey but that’s a lie… I had nothing to gain from reaching out to her a few weeks ago, but peace of mind and a hope for rekindling. I can’t believe Mickey is really goneā€¦ā€ she wrote.

She followed up that post with another a few hours later, saying, ā€œI can’t believe this is real truly.ā€

The tension between the two allegedly stemmed from comments Lee made after the season ended, when she said she felt she was the only ā€œtraditional black womanā€ cast on Season 27.

On Friday, Lee’s family confirmed that the reality star died on Christmas after suffering multiple cardiac arrests. She was 35 years old.
