Billy Wirth and Alex Winter reunited on Sunday, April 26, taking to the red carpet for the opening night of The Lost Boys musical in New York City, nearly 40 years after starring in the cult classic on which it is based.
Wirth, 63, who portrayed the brooding vampire Dwayne, and Winter, 60, best known for his role as Marko, shared smiles as they posed for photos together ahead of the performance.
The Lost Boys follows brothers Michael and Sam Emerson (played by Jason Patric and Corey Haim in the film), who move with their divorced mother (Dianne Wiest) to the fictional town of Santa Carla, Calif., only to discover the town is a haven for vampires.

Directed by Joel Schumacher with a story by James Jeremias and Janice Roberta Fischer, the movie also starred Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Jami Gertz, Edward Herrmann, Barnard Hughes and Jamison Newlander.
Two film sequels (2008's Lost Boys: The Tribe and 2010's Lost Boys: The Thirst) followed, as well as two comic book series.
Since its release, the film has continued to resonate, with younger audiences embracing it for its depiction of vampires well before Twilight, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and True Blood made the niche a staple on the screen.

In 2025, producers James Carpinello, Marcus Chait and Patrick Wilson announced their stage adaptation of the beloved 1987 horror comedy at the Palace Theatre in New York City, with the production featuring a score from Kyler England, Adrianne "AG" Gonzalez and Gabriel Mann of indie rock band The Rescues.
“From the outset, we imagined a production with soaring melodies, creative storytelling, haunting themes, and an original score that had to be as impactful as the legendary soundtrack of the film. A tall order — but we found all those things, and more, with The Rescues," Carpinello, Chait and Wilson said in a statement. "And while they’ve created an epic new score full of original songs, we’re thrilled that they’ve also been able to breathe new life into a few of their existing melodies, reworking them for The Lost Boys in ways that devoted fans of the band are sure to appreciate."
Winter is currently starring on Broadway himself, alongside his Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure co-star Keanu Reeves in Waiting for Godot.
In a recent interview on The Small Bow podcast on April 22, Winter, 60, spoke of reuniting with Reeves, 61, in the Samuel Beckett play, saying, “It helped that we're really good friends and we give each other space."
“Not in a serious way, but I think we both laughed about it, like, 'Will we both be friends when we come out the other end?' ” recalled Winter. “It was stressful, so we had each other. And pretty early on it was like 'Great, I'm doing this with someone who I get along with, that's really helpful in this situation.' ”
