Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark joked teammate Kelsey Mitchell's fourth-quarter absence against the Toronto Tempo could have been avoided if Canada had air conditioning.

Tuesday night at Scotiabank Arena, the Fever beat the Tempo 101-95, with Clark and Mitchell starring for Indiana in their first game in Canada. Mitchell top-scored for the Fever with 29 points, while Clark scored 24, registering seven assists. However, Mitchell was absent for the majority of the second half.

The All-Star guard exited the game in the third quarter and headed straight to the locker room at Scotiabank Arena. She missed all of the fourth due to overheating, according to Fever head coach Stephanie White. It comes as Clark showed her class with a gesture to young fan before the game.

"This is two games in row where we played in really, really hot environments," said White following Indiana's win. "All indications are right now that she [Mitchell] was just overheated."

The Fever head coach also praised Mitchell for her performance, which saw her extend her streak of games with at least 20 points to 20, matching Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson for the longest run in WNBA history.

"She just can get a shot at any time. She gets a shot for herself, her gravity creates shots for everybody else," White said. "It's nice to know that you can give her the ball and let her go to work.

"There aren't a lot of players that can create those kind of shots that she does. It's just a result of Kelsey's hard work. She grinds."

However, her absence on the court was felt by her teammates. In the end, Indiana prevailed with a six-point win, with Sophie Cunningham playing a huge part off the bench for the Fever with 13 points.

Following the game, Clark joked that had Canada been equipped with air conditioning, Mitchell would have been able to play.

Speaking to ESPN's Holly Rowe, Clark was asked if she knew what Mitchell was suffering from, to which she replied, "Well, maybe if Canada had air conditioning, Holly, that would probably be helpful.

"It's a million degrees in here, but hopefully she'll be okay. But we certainly missed her."

She added of playing in Canada for the first time, "It's been great. The fans were great tonight and its really cool to see how much women's basketball has grown. So really fun for my first time in Canada and certainly excited to come back."

The win sees Indiana move to 24-12 on the year, with the Fever currently sitting third in the WNBA standings as the playoffs draw closer and closer. The Fever are currently on a five-game winning streak and are set to return to action on Thursday against the Dallas Wings. Meanwhile, a WNBA referee was slammed over an 'incredibly unprofessional' Clark review move.
