Jenna Johnson is getting real about the challenges of performing.
In a TikTok video shared on Saturday, Feb. 21, the Dancing with the Stars pro says she got her period right before stepping onstage during the cast's current North American tour.
"Nothing’s more vulnerable than putting on a tiny rhinestoned leotard, on the first day of your cycle 🫠 ," Johnson, 31, captioned the post.In the clip, she recalls starting her period "five minutes before" the show was set to start."I'm like, 'perfect timing.' Wasn't prepared," she begins, continuing "During the remainder of the show I just feel terrible. You know, cramping, sick, bloated, I feel nauseous. But I'm like, 'I'm gonna go put on a killer show.' I love to perform, I love to dance, all these people are here, they paid so much money and they're screaming their faces off I'm gonna reciprocate."

Johnson says that the moment made her think about women performers everywhere and "how freaking amazing" they are.
"What about all the Olympians right now that just started their frickin' menstrual cycle and are just smashing it and killing it?" she says. "And then I started thinking about Broadway performers. Any sort of athlete that has to show up and perform and do their very best while feeling like absolute garbage. Anyway, I'm just proud of us. You would never know that we just feel terrible. Because we're gonna show up and we're gonna do our very best anyway."
The Dancing with the Stars Live tour kicked off in Akron, Ohio, and features 74 stops through May 13. Several star competitors from the 34th season will make special appearances, including winner Robert Irwin and runner-ups Alix Earle, Jordan Chiles, Elaine Hendrix and Dylan Efron.

The season 34 premiere was ranked number 1 as the most mentioned show on social media across all broadcast and cable, and generated more than double the number of audience votes compared to the season 33 premiere.
“Dancing with the Stars has been captivating fans for two decades, and the passion for the show has never been stronger,” said Ryan O’Dowd, DWTS executive producer and President of Unscripted at BBC Studios, in a press release. “Last year, the tour sold out in every city for the first time in franchise history, so we extended the run — and sold those shows out as well. More than anything, it’s incredible to see the fandom and energy on the road.”
“The tour gives our professional dancers the chance to connect and directly interact with the very people who cheer for them and vote for them each week,” he continued. “That connection, coupled with the exhilaration of experiencing these performances live, makes the tour a truly unforgettable experience for fans nationwide."
