Emma Chamberlain's Dec. 23 Instagram post stirred up questions amongst her fans, many of whom wondered if she was posing with a new flame in a photo of two shadows

The influencer confirmed her single status as she discussed a recent breakup during an episode of her Anything Goes podcast released on Nov. 13

Emma Chamberlain took to her own Instagram comments shut down an incorrect assumption about her dating life.

On Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Anything Goes podcaster shared a carousel of photos snapped in an idyllic, rural landscape. Most of her post included solo shots and glimpses into cozy moments with the likes of a board game and a Christmas tree, but one slide seemed to send her 14.5 million followers spiraling with speculation.

The photo shows two shadows: one figure — presumably Chamberlain — seems to be snapping the picture, while the other, slightly taller silhouette is standing close by her side. Many comments observed that the person appeared to be wearing a cowboy hat and holding up an object shaped like the head of a guitar.

Some people went as far as to say the faceless person could be the influencer's ex, Role Model, whom she dated between 2020 and 2023. The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, sports a cowboy hat on the cover of his 2024 album, Kansas Anymore, as well as in his profile picture on Instagram.

However, Chamberlain quickly shut down speculation about any new man in her life. After one Instagram user commented, "did you get a new bf already 😭," the Chamberlain Coffee founder responded, "That is my DAD LOL."

Just over month earlier, Chamberlain opened up about her love life during a podcast episode released on Nov. 13. She confirmed her newly single status after disclosing that she was going through a breakup. The fashion icon explained that she recently amicably ended a "serious relationship" that lasted for two years.

After her split from Role Model, she was linked to another musician, Peter McPoland, after the two were spotted together during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Later that year, they seemingly confirmed their relationship by coordinating Halloween costumes. However, Chamberlain did not name McPoland during her meditation on breakups on Anything Goes last month.

As suggested by the episode's title, "Embracing being single," Chamberlain reflected on the fact that she has been in relationships for a large part of her adult life. She expressed her intention to remain single "for a little bit longer than two or three months," admitting that she previously hadn't spent much of her adult life without a partner.

"I've had quite a few boyfriends, but I've had very short breaks in between, meaning I haven't really been single. So it's a little bit daunting to be in this place now where I'm single again," she said during the episode. "I think this time I need to be single for like a year."

Two weeks later, Chamberlain surprised fans by making a rare reference to her past relationship with Role Model while promoting her appearance on Owen Thiele's In Your Dreams podcast. In a clip shared on Nov. 28, she danced along to "Sally, When the Wine Runs Out," a hit song by her ex (who was named PEOPLE's first-ever Sexiest Man Alive centerfold earlier that month).

During the actual episode, Thiele asked Chamberlain, "Why do you keep dating musicians?" She responded with a laugh and borrowed another celebrity's words to explain.

"To quote Sabrina Carpenter, once again, 'I swear they choose me. I'm not choosing them,'" the influencer said, quoting a line from Carpenter's song "Manchild" off of her Man's Best Friend album.Chamberlain doubled down, adding, "No, they choose me," then admitted, "And I choose them a little too."
