Most of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday has been announced, but fans are still expecting to see a few other actors reprise their MCU characters in the upcoming film. Given the popularity of Wolverine and Deadpool, fans have been speculating that these two characters are going to appear in the film, but Marvel won't confirm it beforehand.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who play Deadpool and Wolverine in the MCU, respectively, have posted a video that hints that Doomsday leaks about their characters might be true.
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds might just be a part of Avengers: Doomsday
At Disney's recent D23 event, a video was shown of Hugh Jackman as the actor appears to be held hostage by Ryan Reynolds and made to say things against his will. The same video was posted by Reynolds and Jackman on social media. In the video, Jackman asks Kevin Feige if he needs help in rounding up the cast for Avengers: Doomsday.
It is evident that the video is a humorous version of Reynolds and Jackman asking if they can be part of the upcoming film. So far, they have not been announced to be part of the cast, but after this video, it seems like they might just appear in the film. The video begins with Jackman telling Reynolds behind the scenes that he doesn't want to make the video, and besides, the film's team has already finished filming.
Reynolds tells Jackman to film the video anyway and that if he doesn't, perhaps the next Marvel film will be called
"Deadpool and Spider-Man and literally everyone except Wolverine."
Jackman expresses how hurtful that sentence from Reynolds was, and upon his urging, addresses Kevin Feige and asks him,
"... just wondering if you might need some help rounding out the cast-"
Jackman then addresses Reynolds, who has been feeding him the script all this time, and says that Feige doesn't need to round out the cast or need to cast them when Doomsday already has 28 leading characters. Reynolds then says,
"Cause we're the golden ones. We're special. Now follow the f**king script."
Hugh Jackman gives up and does as he's told. He begins addressing Kevin Feige again and says,
"So anyway, if you guys need anymore help rounding out the cast, I'd love to join, and, I don't know, I might be able to convince Ryan to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. But hey, no pressure."
He then directly looks at Reynolds, who's behind the scenes, and says,

"I hate you so much"
to which Reynolds just laughs and says,
"I know, me too."
While the video is made in a humorous tone, it heavily suggests that Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds might just be reprising their roles as Wolverine and Deadpool. We're yet to see them in any of the released trailers of the film, but this new video seems more than just a joke. With Doomsday and Secret Wars being the two biggest upcoming Marvel films, all hints point towards Jackman and Reynolds appearing in at least one of them.
This hostage video that teases Jackman's and Reynolds' potential appearance in Doomsday also hints towards their rumored role in the film. A month back, a storyline that claimed to be the leaked Doomsday script had gone viral online. As we had then reported, the rumored storyline claimed that Wolverine and Deadpool would play important roles in the beginning of the film.
As per the rumored story, the film will begin with Wolverine and Deadpool destroying the universe from which Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man belongs with a bomb that kills planets. They would do that because that universe would be on a collision path with that of the Fox X-Men universe.
Thus, to save his own universe, Wolverine would have to destroy Tobey's, even if it means he will be dying in the process. While it would be painful for the fans to see Wolverine die, if this rumored story turns out to be true, it would line up perfectly for a new era of X-Men. It is a given that some of the original X-Men will die in the film, and Wolverine dying along with them would lead to the end of their era.
Marvel hasn't announced Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds to be part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast. Thus, their rumored appearance is just speculation so far but has an extremely big chance of becoming a reality.
Stay tuned for more updates.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
