Jamie Lynn Spears addressed the ongoing rumors that her Nickelodeon show âZoey 101â ended because she became pregnant at 16.
Appearing Tuesday on the âMOMARCHYâ podcast, Spears, now 35, was asked to name something that people assume about her thatâs completely wrong.

âIf weâre talking about a concrete misconception, it would be that everybody thinks that âZoey [101]â ended because I got pregnant. And that is not true,â Spears said. âIâve said it probably in every interview Iâve ever done and people still â they donât understand it.â
Spears also noted that her eldest daughter, Maddie, 18, is frequently targeted on TikTok by fans of the show who accuse her of being the reason the Nickelodeon sitcom wrapped in 2008. The series first aired in 2005 and ran for four seasons.
â[Maddieâs] like, âOh, my top comments are always, âYouâre the reason Zoeyâs over. Youâre the reason.â Sheâs â and we laugh about them because theyâre pretty ⊠you got to laugh at these things because like, itâs pretty funny some of the things they say to her, but itâs just not the truth,â Spears said.
Spears told the podcastâs hosts, Tanya Nathan and Sarah Andrews, that the show had concluded by the time she became pregnant with Maddie with then-boyfriend Casey Aldridge; however, its final season had not yet aired on TV.
âThatâs how it is in entertainment. A lot of people who arenât in the business donât understand,â she said. â[The fans] think we shoot it, it comes out. No, you shoot it, and it comes out, like, maybe the next year or something. So, I think thatâs where people were confused, but we were wrapped. We were always wrapped, and there was never going to be another season.â

Spears said that while she was judged and criticized when she became pregnant as a teen, the birth of her first daughter was âa little bit of my saving grace because it gave me a direction.â
Spears split from Aldridge in late 2009. The exes briefly reconciled before breaking up for good in February 2010. Spears later married Jamie Watson in 2014; they welcomed their daughter, Ivey, in 2018.
