Girl dad Kevin Jonas said his daughters were “a little too excited” over one of the new Camp Rock 3 stars when they first watched the new movie as a family — and he jokingly added that he didn’t want to talk about it.
Kevin caught up with PEOPLE exclusively alongside brothers Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas during the Camp Rock 3 premiere at the the Walt Disney Studio Lot in Burbank, Calif., on Aug. 10.
During the conversation, the guitarist and eldest Jonas brother, 38, raved about the latest installment of their Disney franchise, adding that his daughters, Alena Rose, 12, and Valentina Angelina, 9, whom he shares with wife Danielle Jonas (née Deleasa), were fangirling over one of the new male cast members.
“It’s really incredible. I just watched it the other night with our girls and they were very excited,” he began, before joking, “A little too excited when Malachi [Barton] got on screen, but we’re not going to talk about that right now.”

Barton, 19, plays Fletch Robinson, an edgy singer-songwriter and guitarist in the new film.
Jokes aside, Kevin praised the franchise’s newest cast members.
“People are going to love the songs. They’re going to love the dancing. [The new cast members] are so unbelievably talented,” he said.
Nick, 33, added that he and his siblings have loved seeing their work get shared across multiple generations as they get older — and especially as they’ve become parents themselves.

“I think that as parents, the last couple years we’ve been so thrilled to get to partner with Disney on a bunch of different projects — the Christmas movie [A Very Jonas Christmas Movie], this film, a handful of other things that we have going on. I think that we’re trying to bring things into the world that we can share with our kids and that we can experience as a family,” he explained.
Nick continued, “And when we look out at our shows, what we’re seeing is that multigenerational effect of people that were our age in their teens, who are now adults with their own kids, bringing them to shows. And I think the same thing will happen with this.”
Nick shares daughter Malti Marie, 4, with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, 44, while Joe, 37, shares daughters Delphine, 4, and Willa, 6, with ex-wife Sophie Turner, 30.

Nick added that the franchise holds “such a wonderful place” in their hearts.
“So to get to bring that to life in a whole new way with this incredibly talented young cast will be really special,” he said.
The Camp Rock franchise launched in 2008 with a Disney Channel Original Movie starring Demi Lovato alongside Joe, Kevin and Nick.
The film followed aspiring singer Mitchie Torres (Lovato) as she attended a prestigious summer music camp, where she met teen pop star Shane Gray (Joe).

The movie’s success led to the 2010 sequel Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, which reunited the cast for another music-filled summer.
Demi, 33, who served as an executive producer along with the Jonas Brothers on the latest installment, also makes a cameo in the new movie.

While speaking to PEOPLE at the premiere, Lovato admitted that it was “hard” to keep her appearance in the film a secret.
“People have been asking, ‘Are you a part of it?’ And I’ve been having to say, ‘Well, I’m an executive producer, and you’ll just have to wait and see.’ So now it’s out, and I can’t wait for the world to see it,” Lovato told PEOPLE exclusively.
Camp Rock 3 is currently streaming on Disney+.
