The Sex and the City alum posted a picture of her and Panettiere, who died on Sunday at 36, from the 2005 Disney movie. “Rest in peace sweet Hayden. Gone far too soon 💔,” she captioned the image.
Panettiere’s death comes less than two years after their Ice Princess costar Michelle Trachtenbergdied in February 2025 from complications of diabetes.
“Rest in peace sweet Michelle 💔,” Cattrall wrote at the time on Instagram with a picture of them on set at an ice rink.
Fans mourned the untimely deaths of the two actresses. Panettiere died five days before her 37th birthday, while Tratchtenberg was 39. “Now the two skaters are in the sky 😢😢😢😢,” one wrote. “no way this is so sad … first michelle and now hayden,” another said.
“Oh my God, this is so sad. She played your daughter in Ice Princess. It was already heartbreaking that Michelle Trachtenberg passed away last year, and now it’s Hayden too. I can’t believe it,” a third commented. Many left heart emojis for Cattrall as well, sending their love.
Both Panettiere and Trachtenberg began acting at very early ages. Panettiere started in commercials as a toddler before appearing in the soap opera One Life to Live. Tratchtenberg’s television debut was in a Wisk commercial at 3 years old. She got her first acting credit in Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete.
They would go on to star on various television series and in movies. In Ice Princess, Trachtenberg and Panettiere played ice skating rivals who become friends.

In her last public appearance, Panettiere spoke about she wanted to be remembered. As she promoted her memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning in May, she said people “within the industry and outside of the industry” had approached her to share their own stories after she was candid about her struggles with drug and alcohol abuse and postpartum depression.

“Because you’ve talked about your mental health, it gave me the courage to be honest about mine and get myself help, and you saved my life,” Panettiere said several people told her.
“I was like, this is worth it,” Panettiere recalled at the time. “I can hopefully leave the world a better place than I found it. The strength is in our vulnerability.”
