Appearing on the latest episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, opened up about her mental health.

Admitting that she attempted suicide at 15, the 28-year-old model said she suffered from PTSD, which led her to join a Utah treatment facility to heal.

However, her experience at the unnamed facility was the opposite of what she expected. According to Jackson, instead of receiving treatment, she was ā€œleft with more PTSD.ā€

Paris Jackson Recalls Horrifying Treatment Center Experience

Speaking with Jay Shetty on his podcast, Paris Jackson opened up about her experience at the Utah treatment facility where she was sent following her first suicide attempt.

Despite being admitted for a ā€œcouple of months,ā€ the 28-year-old model and actress said, ā€œI definitely left with more PTSD than I went in there with.ā€

Recalling the horrifying experiences after Shetty asked her about it, Jackson claimed to have ā€œhad nightmares for two or three years about going back after I finally left.ā€

She clarified that while she had a terrible experience at the facility, people have had different experiences at different Utah facilities. ā€œEach one was different,ā€ she said.

Jackson added, ā€œI know some people that have been to the ones that were not as bad or worse.ā€ Reflecting further on the trust issues she developed at the facility, the model said: ā€œI can’t trust anybody here because anything you say could put you on the lowest level, and you can’t really call your family and tell them because they’re listening.ā€

She added, ā€œThey will call your family and be like, ā€˜Don’t listen to her. She’s lying to you.’ And then you get a consequence… and you’re on meds, and you’re zombie-d out, and it’s rough.ā€

Later in the conversation, the 28-year-old called herself ā€œone of the lucky onesā€ at the facility, because she didn’t have to experience ā€œphysical or s*xual abuse.ā€

Describing the forms of abuse she said took place at the center, Jackson said, ā€œThere was definitely a lot of psychological, emotional, spiritual abuse that happened there.ā€

She continued, ā€œLike pitting the clients against each other. You have to learn how to kind of play the game if you want to get out.ā€

Michael Jackson’s Daughter Opens Up About Suicide Attempt

Although Michael Jackson’s 28-year-old daughter declined to discuss her suicide attempt in detail, she previously spoke about it in a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone.

Stating that her suicide attempt at 15 was a result of ā€œself-hatredā€ and ā€œlow self-esteem,ā€ Paris Jackson said she suffered from depression and anxiety.

She said she often thought ā€œthat I couldn’t do anything right,ā€ instead of ā€œthinking I was worthy of living anymore.ā€

Jackson added, ā€œI was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like, teen angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help.ā€
