Saturday Night Live star Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidell picked their favorite pre-taped sketches.
They included iconic Lonely Island and Peyton Manning videos.
Day said the Lonely Island "revolutionized" pre-taped sketches.
Peyton Manning and Lonely Island, welcome to the Saturday Night Live pantheon!
SNL cast member Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidell are the latest experts on the new short-form series The Rundown, for which they were tasked with choosing their favorite of the show's pre-taped sketches.
After breaking down the various types of pre-tapes, Day selected the Lonely Island's "Dick in a Box," a 2006 digital short featuring Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake as a pair of very generous gift-giving singers.
"It represents the pre-tape revolution — like, my mom knows 'Dick in a Box,'" Day declared on The Rundown. "Lonely Island ushers in a new era. They revolutionized the comedic song. They showed what you could do with a pre-tape."
Seidell went with the 2007 United Way parody commercial starring Manning, in which the legendary NFL quarterback isn't very charitable while coaching some young kids.

"Peyton Manning beaning kids in the head with a football is guaranteed laughs," Seidell said. "He's fantastic."

Day and Seidell's pre-tape selections followed Rundown episodes featuring Colin Jost locking in the show's best-ever cold open, Bowen Yang naming his pick for the best recurring character on "Weekend Update," and Dana Carvey selecting his favorite live sketch — the 1990 "Wayne's World" sketch boasting special guest Aerosmith.
"They are 'party on,'" Carvey said of Garth and Wayne, the legendary characters he and Mike Myers portrayed, respectively. "They are just joy, fun. To me, the secret sauce was the so-called two losers in town. They live with their parents, they have no money, they have an AMC Pacer, and they're by far the happiest people in the town. You always want to get in a really big, funny sketch with your friends, where everything just flows and is landing."
Concluding his episode with Seidell, Day said, "I'm confident in our choices. They're both important pieces in the show's history."
