Marvel shocked fans by confirming Chris Evans' return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Steve Rogers in a recently released Avengers: Doomsday trailer, and a brand-new trailer has now confirmed yet another MCU return.

Doomsdaywill be Marvel's biggest movie release since Avengers: Endgame when it hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2026, and plenty of attention has been paid to which of the MCU's OG cast members will be returning. The biggest shock was Robert Downey Jr.'s role as Doctor Doom in the upcoming movie, following his 17-year run as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Marvel also hosted an hours-long cast reveal livestream event for Doomsday in March of this year, which confirmed a staggering 27 total cast members. However, not everyone in the cast was announced at that time. Until recently, Chris Evans' return as Steve Rogers was being kept under wraps.

This news came as a particular shock, given that Endgame concluded with Steve traveling back in time and returning to the present as a 105-year-old man, and considering he was absent from both The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Captain America: Brave New World.

While not as groundbreaking as Evans' return to the franchise, Marvel has now also confirmed the return of Love, Thor's adoptive daughter from Thor: Love and Thunder, in Doomsday. Audiences already knew that Thor would be in the movie—Chris Hemsworth was actually the first name announced in the livestream—but Love's return was unknown.

This reveal comes in a brand-new Doomsday trailer that now plays before Avatar: Fire and Ash in theaters, as reported by USA Today. Also per USA Today, the trailer has yet to be released online, but the footage reportedly includes Thor praying to his father, Odin, that he will return safely to Love and kissing Love on the forehead. Love is played by Hemsworth's real-life daughter, India Rose Hemsworth.
