Phoebe Bridgers has canceled upcoming U.K. shows after being hospitalized with appendicitis around her 32nd birthday

Phoebe Bridgers has had to cancel upcoming U.K. shows after being diagnosed with appendicitis.
The singer shared her diagnosis via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Aug. 19, alongside a picture of her looking downcast in the hospital with an IV line in her arm.
“I got appendicitis for my birthday,” she shared alongside the snap.

She went on to reveal that the diagnosis — which came around the time of her 32nd birthday on Aug. 17 — would mean the cancellation of her upcoming U.K. shows. However, Bridgers promised to “make it up to” fans who held tickets for the concerts.
Per Mayo Clinic, appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix that causes “pain in the lower right part of the belly.” Typically affecting those ages 10 and 30, treatment usually involves antibiotics and generally surgery to remove the appendix.

Apart from her health scare, it’s been a good week for Bridgers, with her new album Lost Weekendpraised as an “absolute triumph” by her pal Taylor Swift, 36.
Swift, who collaborated with Bridgers on the 2021 track “Nothing New,” shared an Instagram Stories post on Monday, Aug. 17, about how much she loved the indie-rock artist’s new release as she celebrated Bridgers’ 32nd birthday.
“It’s her birthday, but she gave us a gift,” wrote the 14-time Grammy winner. “Haven’t been able to stop listening. This album is an absolute triumph in every way.”
The star added, “To write about grief with such vulnerability and detail, and to trust the listener with this much honesty.”

Swift then shared her birthday wishes with Bridgers, adding, “I love you.”
Bridgers, who opened for Swift’s Eras Tour several times, opened up about collaborating with the “I Knew It, I Knew You” artist in a 2021 interview with Billboard, calling it a “dream.”

“I just couldn’t be more excited,” Bridgers said at the time, adding that she got “teary” recording the track, which was featured on Red (Taylor’s Version).
She added that Swift is an “ incredible businessperson and an incredible writer.”

“What she’s been able to build just from writing adeptly from a young age is insane,” she concluded.
On Aug. 15, both Swift and Bridgers attended Oli Jacobs and Laura Sisk’s wedding in the U.K., with the Evermore artist debuting a shorter hairstyle just a few days before while stepping out in London.
The nuptials took place at Peter Gabriel‘s Real World Studios outside Bath, Gloucestershire, with Sabrina Carpenter and Jack Antonoff also snagging invitations.
