Angel City Brewery joins a slew of other establishments in downtown L.A. that have recently shut its doors for good
Angel City Brewery, a popular brewery in downtown L.A., will be closing its doors for good.
The brewery, located at the corner of Alameda Street and Traction Avenue in the Arts District, will officially close on April 30 after operating for roughly three decades in the city and 13 years in the district.
"All good things… and all great parties… must come to an end," the company said on its official website when it announced its last event for Sunday, April 26.
In 2025, Angel City Brewery's parent company, Alchemy & Science, revealed it was winding down operations. According to KTLA, company officials from Boston Beer Company, which owns Alchemy & Science, said it was shutting down the brewery and Truly LA, another bar in the area, to “focus on growing [its] core, national brands.”

Though Boston Beer Company said that the Angel City Brewery brand is performing relatively well, the company admitted that L.A. taprooms don't exactly align with the company's current business strategy, even if the brewery could survive on its own.
“We believe there is potential for this brand to succeed outside of Boston Beer as a strong local offering, and we’ll be putting significant efforts behind selling Angel City so the brand can continue to live on,” company officials said.
Angel City Brewery was founded in 1997 by Michael Bowe in Culver City, Calif. In 2012, it was acquired by Boston Beer, which made the local tavern a hotspot in L.A.
On X, customers said that they will miss Angel City Brewery.

"Will be sad to see it go. Hopefully someone with some money keeps it alive....," an X user said.
Someone else wrote, "Managed to get on the roof at Angel City Brewery for its last weekend :( I never paid for drinks or food here I will miss you!!"
A third added, "Man I remember for a while people from all over LA would go there."
Another said, "Angel brewery shutting down in the arts district this whole city going bankrupt."
Though Angel City is set to close its doors, one employee is reportedly trying to save it. The employee told KNX News that he doesn't want to see Angel City turn into something else.

“I really don't want it to be apartment complexes. I really don't want it to be a parking lot,” he said. “I really don't want it to be something that is, instead of being a place for people to come and gather and have different events and have the ability to watch the Dodgers win the World Series for hopefully a third time in a row together. I don't want that to disappear.”
Angel City Brewery did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
