As speculation mounts about Harry and Meghan's anticipated UK visit, rumors suggest they may stop at the Prince's late mother, Diana, 's childhood residence during their journey.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to return to the UK within weeks, marking their first joint visit to Harry's homeland in 4 years. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, accompanied by their children, Archie and Lilibet, are expected to arrive in Britain in July for an event celebrating the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

Speculation has been widespread regarding where the Sussex family will lodge during their visit, with recent reports suggesting King Charles has extended an offer for Harry and Meghan to stay in royal properties during their uncommon family journey.

Nevertheless, a fresh theory about their accommodation has emerged, as royal observers have pieced together clues that may indicate their lodging arrangements.

The Birmingham event is thought to occur on July 10, which has consequently drawn focus to the nearby Althorp House: the childhood residence of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.

The ancestral property in West Northamptonshire is one hour from Birmingham and, according to the estate's website, remains closed to guests on July 10 and 11. This has sparked speculation that Harry and his family might visit or stay at the Spencer family residence during their journey.

The Mirror contacted representatives for Harry and Meghan, who declined to comment on the speculation, citing security concerns. Althorp House serves as Princess Diana's final resting place, and with the Sussexes planning to arrive in the UK shortly following the late Princess of Wales' birthday on July 1, it would represent a meaningful visit for Harry and his family.

Harry has stayed at Althorp previously - the estate belonging to his uncle, Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer - during UK trips, most recently in 2024 when he attended the funeral of Lord Robert Fellowes.

The Duke has also expressed affection for the family property, recounting in his memoir Spare that, in 2022, he brought Meghan to her gravesite for the first time.

Prior to the Sussexes' UK visit, sources indicate that King Charles has extended an invitation for Harry, Meghan, and their children to stay in royal lodgings. It is understood that for security purposes, Harry has accepted the offer to stay at Buckingham Palace.

There are also suggestions that Harry, alongside his wife and children, will have an audience with the King during their journey to Harry's homeland.

A royal source said, "Any meeting between Harry and Meghan and the King would represent a huge thawing of relations. Despite everything that has occurred in recent years, the King loves his son and daughter-in-law dearly and would relish the chance to see his grandchildren."

According to News.com.au, Harry has long harbored a desire to bring his family back to his native country. A source revealed to the publication: "It's been a real point of great sadness – for Harry especially – that he's been unable to bring his wife and kids back to the UK safely to reconnect with friends and family, but anyone would understand his desire to put their safety first."

The insider went on to add: "He would love to introduce the children to his wider family, to show them the UK, where he grew up – his homeland. That would be a natural thing for any parent."
