According to a report, the queen opened up about her husband’s health in a video marking Maggie’s cancer charity’s 30th anniversary. She claimed that she had to keep silent about the monarch’s diagnosis before the official public announcement. For those unversed, Charles’s condition was revealed on February 5, 2024.

Queen Camilla was reportedly finding it “difficult” to keep King Charles’ cancer diagnosis a secret. She recently opened up during a video marking the 30th anniversary of Maggie’s cancer charity.

According to the BBC, she discovered her husband’s health condition a few days after she launched a new Maggie’s cancer support center at London’s Royal Free Hospital.

In the clip, the queen told the chief executive of Maggie’s, Dame Laura Lee, that she almost spilled the beans. “Nobody could say anything at the time, that was quite difficult.” Camilla understood that she should refrain from disclosing the diagnosis publicly, as it was not the right time.

“I was just longing to let it out, but obviously I couldn’t,” Charles’ wife said. Furthermore, Camilla stated that the king’s treatment is ongoing. But it has not stopped her husband from ignoring his official duties. “Nothing stopped him. He just said, ‘This is my way. I’m going to cope with it,’” the queen added.

Meanwhile, Lee empathized with Camilla and shared how Charles’ “openness about his diagnosis” helped the cancer hospital. It reportedly led men to seek help and support from their center. Additionally, the chief executive was grateful to the queen for sharing her side of the story as a wife.

“To hear her speak so powerfully of her own emotions when visiting the Royal Free centre, while knowing about His Majesty’s diagnosis, is a huge honor,” Lee said.
