Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter Chelsea has grown up in the public eye.
The 42nd U.S. president, who celebrates his 80th birthday on Aug. 19, 2026, and the former first lady welcomed their only child in 1980. When Chelsea was 12, her father — already the governor of Arkansas — won the presidency. As a result of her parents’ political careers, which extended to Hillary’s 2016 presidential campaign, Chelsea stayed in the spotlight for much of her life.
“My childhood prepared me, though, in many ways for social media the day after I was born,” she said at a CBS panel for Mental Health Awareness Month in 2023. “I never knew what it was like to have anonymity.”
Although the Clintons have remained private for the last decade, Chelsea and Hillary collaborated on a book in 2019, The Book of Gutsy Women,and the 2022 docuseries Gutsy. The former secretary of state also doesn’t shy away from praising her daughter online.
“You’ve always had lots of opinions, and I’m so proud of how you use your voice for good,” Hillary wrote on Instagram for Chelsea’s birthday in 2021.
