Drum roll, please … Winona will star in a guest role on Wednesday Season 3.
Tim Burton, the series director and executive producer of Wednesday, confirmed the news to E! this week. “I am so happy that Winona has joined us,” he said. “She fits right into this world. And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.”
And, it’s safe to say that the film legend and Winona are dear friends indeed. Winona got her breakout role in Tim’s Beetlejuice movie in 1988, and the pair went on to work together on numerous other projects. These include Edward Scissorhands, Frankenweenie, and the 2024 Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel.
“When it comes to outcasts, Winona Ryder is the GOAT,” showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said to The Hollywood Reporter of her casting on Wednesday. “Her legendary partnership with Tim Burton has defined some of cinema’s most unforgettable characters.”
To that end, the pair added, “[we] couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her to Nevermore.”

Tim won’t be the only familiar face for Winona on the set of Wednesday. Jenna Ortega, who stars in the titular role, worked alongside Winona on the Beetlejuice sequel. Jenna played Astrid Deetz, the teenage daughter of Winona’s Lydia Deetz.
Details about Wednesday Season 3 have been kept under wraps since it was confirmed. However, we do know that the likes of Catherine Zeta Jones, Luiz Gúzman, and Emma Myers will return.
Teasing what viewers can expect to see in the next instalment, a press release said Wednesday will “unearth more of the school’s sinister secrets — and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt.”
Stream Wednesday on Netflix.
